ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, FOOD AND NUTRITION - MULTI UNIT HOSPITAL

Salary: $75,000-85,000 per year

Other Forms of Compensation: Up to $2,500 annually 

Reports to: Sr. Director of Food and Nutrition

Schedule:  Full time; primarily Monday through Friday, 1st shift. More details are available upon interviewing.

Job Summary

As the Associate Director of Food and Nutrition, you will assist in the successful operation of food & nutrition services in an acute care hospital. The food and nutrition department includes all foodservice-related activities; including patient services and meals, retail cafeteria, catering, lounges, culinary, and vending.  In addition, they will oversee quality improvement, sanitation, infection control and all hospital-related activities. This role is an exciting growth opportunity for an energetic, entrepreneurial leader who aspires to advance into a Director position. The Associate Director will be developed with the expectation of progressing into a Director role within 1–2 years.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists to ensure client, customer satisfaction and efficient cost effective management.
  • Leads, trains, and develops a team of 4 salaried managers with overall oversight of more than 60 hourly associates
  • Direct and conduct safety, sanitation, and maintenance programs; while maintaining excellent relationships with patients, the Client, and other departments
  • Responsible for promoting the professional growth and development of their team. 
  • Fosters strong inter-departmental relations and integrate the food-service department with the facility plan of operations.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years of food service management experience in mutli unit operations preferably in a hospital, university, or other high volume institution
  • Certified Dietary Manager or associates degree or above in nutrition, food service management, or related field of study a plus
  • 1 or more years of experience in a hospital or senior living facility 
  • Inventory and purchasing knowledge and control
  • Strong knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • Previous P&L accountability or contract-managed service experience is desirable
  • Strong leadership, management and coaching skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent financial, budgetary, accounting and computational skills
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet
  • ServSafe® Certified
