Job Summary
The United Center is the largest arena in the United States and is located near the West Side of Chicago, Illinois. It serves as the home of the Chicago Blackhawks (NHL) and the Chicago Bulls (NBA) and hosts a wide variety of concerts and special events year-round. The FanDuel Sportsbook Restaurant, located within the arena, delivers a premium dining experience for fans and guests during all events.
Position Summary:
The Food Runner/Server Assistant is a key part of the front-of-house team, responsible for delivering food from the kitchen to guests in a timely, professional manner. This part-time, union position is event-based, and open availability for all scheduled events—including evenings, weekends, and holidays—is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver food orders from the kitchen to guests in the dining room, bar, and lounge
- Ensure each order is accurate and presented properly
- Maintain knowledge of table and seat numbers, as well as the full menu
- Stock and prepare work areas with necessary service accompaniments
- Assist servers and other team members as needed
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and management regarding guest concerns or food quality
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Follow through with proper checkout and sign-out procedures
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
- Must be friendly, professional, and guest-focused
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow directions and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Basic math and reading skills
- Familiarity with POS systems is a plus
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods
- Open availability for all United Center events is required
Physical Requirements:
This role requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, lifting, and bending. Team members may be required to stoop, kneel, crawl, or balance during the shift and handle or carry trays of food.
