Salary:  $70,000-$75,000

Other Forms of Compensation: Annual Bonus Incentive up to 15%

Job Summary

Whiteriver Unified School District, located in Arizona’s spectacular White Mountains on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation (Mesa, AZ, located approximately 111 miles to the west), is seeking a hardworking and experienced Director of Dining Services. This position is employed by Compass Group – Chartwells K12, serving as the Food Service Director for Whiteriver USD. In this role, you’ll lead a team of 30 frontline associates to provide nutritious, high-quality meals to over 2,300 students across 5 schools. The successful candidate will enjoy a high level of communication, being boots on the ground in the field, engaging with our client, students, and staff, promoting the dining program, and encouraging a welcoming, inclusive food service culture. We are especially excited to find someone who is enthusiastic about creating and driving a dynamic catering program that supports school events, staff functions, and community engagement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and encourage our team of 30 frontline associates.
  • Drive critical initiatives to improve customer satisfaction and increase profitability.
  • Recruit, train, and develop top talent within the organization.
  • Lead the annual budget and oversee costs effectively.
  • Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Build positive relationships with clients, customers, and associates.
  • Market the program and effectively tell its story to engage customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient functioning of the dining service operation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Food Services Management/Hospitality/Culinary or Nutrition preferred or equivalent experience
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven record to cultivate an inclusive and engaging culture.
  • Skilled in creating impactful, long-term relationships that drive program success and client satisfaction.
  • Food service management experience needed. 
  • Catering experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of K12 food service experience is preferred.
  • Previous P&L accountability or contract-managed services experience.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
