Job Summary
The Facilities Manager provides leadership/ direction for a group of technical and building staff within the Trades Shop. The focus of this job: work hands-on in leading, instructing, and educating various team members, emphasizing good maintenance practices, and provide quality building maintenance. It is expected that the Facilities Manager is disciplined and motivated to take stewardship of work responsibilities and remain organized. The Facilities Manager is responsible for coordinating with fellow supervisors and team leaders on projects and special events in a teamwork environment. They will also provide support to other management operations as requested by Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Controls expenses within the scope of responsibility.
- Manages, directs, and schedules work activities of skilled and semi-skilled trades’ craftsmen.
- Assigns work to direct reports.
- Coordinates building maintenance requirements with proctors of assigned buildings.
- Plans jobs to be done and monitors work in progress.
- Supervises the preparation of timekeeping records and reports.
- Plans and supervises a progressive preventive maintenance program.
- Determines material and manpower requirements.
- Assists craftsmen on solutions to difficult problems.
- Gives on-site supervision over hazardous or unusual work assignments.
- Responds to emergency problems in the facility.
- Maintains logs, performs rounds, and schedules direct reports on maintenance work orders, tests, and inspections.
- Maintains facility, shops and mechanical areas in a clean and safe manner.
- Serves as a member of facility’s emergency response team.
- Ensures that productivity and staffing is appropriate to achieve results as outlined by RVP and Operations Manager.
- Conducts and assists in interviewing, hiring, appraisal and progressive counseling/ coaching.
- Trains for safety compliance, operational procedures, and company policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five years’ experience in mechanical, electrical, building or other skilled trade supervision.
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Exhibits initiative, responsibility, flexibility and leadership.
- Excellent communication with senior client & internal staff
- Ability to communicate effectively in written format and oral presentations.
- Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
- Experience managing employees.
- Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment.
- Ability to use tools, machines, equipment and materials of the mechanical, electrical and/or building trades, 20% field work 80% administrative.
- Journeyman or Master’s license in HVAC, Plumbing, or Electrical trade/s.
