Job Summary

The Quality Assurance Manager provides leadership in planning, organizing, and executing Canteen’s Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) programs across multiple business lines. This role supports customer complaint investigations, recall communications, and training initiatives. It also includes conducting onsite FSQA assessments to validate program implementation and provide coaching within Canteen dining and food distribution warehouse operations.

This position reports to the Vice President of Food Safety & Quality Assurance for Canteen.


Location:

Remote (Preferred location: Midwest or West Coast to support regional operations)
Travel Requirement: Up to 60%


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as FSQA Subject Matter Expert (SME), supporting field teams through knowledge sharing and problem-solving
  • Conduct walk-through inspections of facilities to assess FSQA program implementation
  • Troubleshoot FSQA issues and provide support to dining and warehouse units
  • Assist in developing Quality Assessment Reports and updates to FSQA programs
  • Support the development and delivery of training programs
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities with accuracy and efficiency
  • Work independently and collaboratively with energy and enthusiasm
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of FSQA

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related bioscience field
  • 5+ years of management experience in food safety, quality assurance, operations, or regulatory roles
  • Strong working knowledge of food processing, foodservice, and distribution regulations (FDA, USDA/FSIS)
  • Familiarity with GFSI audit schemes (e.g., SQF, ISO 22000, IFS, BRC)
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong data management, reporting, and technical writing skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn various software and web-based tools
