Job Summary
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in enhancing accounting and financial reporting functions for the
Capital Assets, Cash Compliance & Controls, and Financial Reporting & Compliance teams. This role
involves performing key accounting tasks, developing standardized financial processes, and ensuring
compliance. A major emphasis is placed on continuous improvement, data-driven decision-making, and
driving cross-functional collaboration. The Senior Accountant will also support the company’s growth
strategy by contributing to M&A financial activities, ensuring seamless integration and compliance. The
position supports operational excellence by aligning financial accuracy with strategic goals and fostering a
culture of innovation and efficiency.
Primary Responsibilities
Accounting Expertise:
· Contribute to the development of accounting and reporting functions.
· Perform and review core accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations,
month-end close, and financial reporting.
· Identify discrepancies or errors in accounting records and take corrective action to resolve them.
· Assist in maintaining capital asset records, lease accounting, and cash control reconciliations.
· Monitor financial controls and risks to ensure compliance and safeguard company assets.
· Assist and review the work of others to ensure accuracy and compliance with established standards.
Projects and Continuous Improvement:
· Utilize Excel, Power Queries, Power BI, and other tools to develop, document, and improve financial
processes, procedures, and workflows to ensure consistency and compliance.
· Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and successful completion.
· Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and
support company-wide initiatives.
· Participate in training and knowledge-sharing activities to enhance team capabilities.
· Support ERP system upgrades by helping to test functionality, validate financial data, and align
workflows.
Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A):
· Support M&A activities by assisting with due diligence and integration of financial processes.
Competencies
Technical Skills:
· Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes.
· Proficient in Excel and adept at learning and working within diverse financial systems and tools.
· Experience with ERP systems, including navigation of general ledger and subledger structures. (SAP
experience is a plus).
Soft Skills: · Strong problem-solving, process improvement, and analytical skills. · Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and facilitate teamwork. · Effective communicator who can clearly present accounting issues and solutions. · Team-oriented, dependable, and capable of working independently. · Demonstrate integrity, accountability, and a strong work ethic.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting; with 3-5 years of experience.
