Job Summary
As a Sous Chef, you will support the daily operation of the Culinary Department within a healthcare setting. This role assists with food production, menu execution, inventory, catering, and team supervision while ensuring food quality, safety, and patient satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Chef with food, labor, and supply cost management.
- Support menu planning, food preparation, and daily kitchen operations.
- Supervise food production and ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
- Assist with inventory, ordering, and catering events.
- Train and support culinary associates.
- Implement new culinary programs and maintain customer satisfaction.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Ability to work in a healthcare foodservice environment and a union setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent experience.
- Progressive culinary or kitchen leadership experience.
- Healthcare, hospital, or institutional foodservice experience preferred.
- High-volume foodservice and batch cooking experience.
- Catering experience a plus.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, quality standards, and cost controls.
- ServSafe certification preferred.
- Union environment experience is a plus
